#courtesyof Messy me designs. We don’t need any excuse to bake. G and I were asked to try the new Messy Me baking boxes and straight away I knew what we could bake for the run up to the festive period, Spice Christmas Stars. The recipe for them is at the bottom of the page.
G opened the box and was so excited with her mini kids rolling pin. “ROLLING PIN” see the highlight on our Instagram stories; she so enjoyed opening it. Perfect size for her to use to roll the dough out. The rolling pin is sourced from Tala, the well known cookware company so good quality. The cutters were star shaped and silicone food grade. The best thing about the cutters is getting the mixture of sizes. The top of the cutters has a nice flat ridge which definitely suited G’s star cutting out style. Boom and a slap on the top. The last item in the box was the Messy me oilcloth apron. G loved this as it was a deep red colour. Great unisex colour and spotty print. The tapes are also nice and wide so comfy for little people to wear. G wanted to wear her apron all day, she did even on the school run.
A lovely kit and would easily make a great Christmas Eve gift activity or stocking filler. A welcome addition to the box would be a recipe card and differently filled boxes to build your child’s skills in the kitchen. I have a child who loves baking and cooking so we are definitely going to be keeping our eyes peeled on the range.
Spice Christmas Stars
300g plain flour
2 tsps ground mixed spice
To decorate: silver balls and glacè icing.
Cream the butter and sugar together and add the egg.
Add the flour and the spice and mix together to form a dough.
Wrap in cling and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Roll out and cut the star shapes.
Bake for 10 to 15 minutes at 180o C. Till golden.
Cool and pipe with icing and add silver balls.
We added holes before the stars were baked so we could hang them. Eat! Enjoy!
https://messy-me.com is the website to have a look at. I would quite like a oilcloth star printed apron. Adding to my Christmas Wish list.
What would you bake?
